We JUST sold our old lawn mower because it wasn’t working as well as we’d like anymore, and we’d had it for years. It’s basically one of the cheapest gas mowers you can get these days. We spent a few weeks researching what we should buy to replace it and settled on a very nice one. We’re hoping it works for years with no issues, but there’s at least a 3 year warranty on it!
A couple of times, Jeremiah brought up that we should buy a scotts classic reel mower. I actually wouldn’t mind that once I’m not pregnant, lol. It is definitely more environmentally friendly.
My mom even had one for a while when we lived in a duplex. For now, we’ll use our new mower and maybe end up with one of the classic ones at some point.
With temperatures already soaring into the 90′s in North Texas, I’ve decided.. we need a pool. It would be INCREDIBLE if we got lucky enough to rent a house with a pool when we move. If not, I’d really like one eventually. A pool is something I’d use year-round, for sure. Besides the fact that in Texas weather, you can use a pool about 80% of the year because of the weather, you could also get one of those rheem pool heaters so that for the few weeks that it’s actually cold, you could still go swimming in it! I just think that once you have two kids, and you live in the hot south, it’s pretty much a necessity.
I’ve always told Jeremiah how lucky he is to have a low-maintenance wife. He always laughs it off or has some sarcastic response, often telling me how much money I cost him, etc. The thing is, I really don’t ask for much. I have one purse that I’ve had for years. Sure, soon I’ll be trading it for a diaper bag, but it will likely be the cheapest bag any given store sells. I rarely buy makeup. I’ve had the same stuff forever. I replace things like concealer when I run out, every year or two. I wear discount jewelry if I wear any at all. I have my wedding ring, and a necklace he bought me the first year we were married. If I wear anything else, it’s cheap earrings or a bracelet.
He really is a lucky man, he just doesn’t see it that way.
Technically 26 weeks was yesterday, but I want to start documenting my pregnancy on the blog, so here goes. This week’s picture comes courtesy of my neighbor’s mom, from the lake house on Saturday, haha.

How Far Along: 26 weeks.
Innie or Outtie: Innie
Maternity Clothes: Been in them for a while. Most recently I got 2 new shirts and maternity capris. Necessary for the 80+ degree temps lately!
Sleep: Lots of tossing and turning.
Pregnancy Perk: There’s perks? Haha ask me again when I’m holding my baby.
Embarrassing Pregnant Moment: Nothing so far other than some forgetfulness..
Best Moment this week: Seeing my baby on the sonogram
Baby Purchases this week: Zilch
Best quote regarding baby this week: Nada
Gender: Boy!
Movement: He’s apparently turned around, so he butt-bumps my belly button and kicks my bowels. Fun!
Food Cravings: Home style cookin’!
Food Aversions: Chicken
How’s Mom? Good. Tired.
How’s Dad? I don’t think he’ll get attached until the baby is actually here and he can see him in person. All he wants to know is if I get bed rest so that he can stay home. I’m hoping that doesn’t happen – nobody wants to be bed-ridden. It’s not glamorous. ![]()
What I am looking forward to: Baby shower and actually buying baby stuff to really get ready for Blake’s arrival.
Our Baby in Veggie/Fruit Terms: “Your baby is as tall as an English hothouse cucumber and weighs about 1 2/3 pounds. (Length: 14 inches, head to heel.)” According to sonogram, Blake is actually over 2lbs now. :X
What Baby Blake is up to: “The network of nerves in your baby’s ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner’s as you chat with each other. He’s inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he’s born and takes that first gulp of air. And he’s continuing to put on baby fat. If you’re having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.”
Now that Matthew’s at that age where he says all the fun and entertaining things (some of which I have to cover my mouth and pretend I’m not laughing at) I wanted to start documenting them. I figured I’d post some as I remember them on my website.
My neighbor’s mom is visiting from out of town, and she brought her Basset Hound, Scooby.
Matthew asks “Who is that?” Her mom answers “That’s Scooby!” Matthew.. “Why is he so low?”
I’m already so overwhelmed with being outnumbered, I can’t even imagine when there’s 3 boys and then.. me. Our husky, Ellie, is the only other girl in the house! With all the testosterone already I’m kind of glad we aren’t having a daughter though, LOL. I don’t think we’ll be needing any arginmax or other testosterone boosters anytime in the future – there’s going to be 3 boys fueling each other all day. I know Jeremiah will love having two boys, though. It’ll be good for him, and I already love seeing him and Matthew bond so it’ll be amazing to see him doing boy things with his two little guys.
Music and videos online are basically what have gotten me through the last few days. Jeremiah has been out of town and I’m just BORED. Besides the normal monotony of being a stay at home mom, there is no daddy coming home to break up the boring routine. I’ve caught up to all my shows on Hulu and even attempted to watch a few movies. I need to download something like the vlc 2.0 player so that I can watch some of the movies that are on the hard drive.
What do you do when you have days and days with nothing really going on?
Because it’s trendy;

China Glaze Recycle with China Glaze Techno!
Angie mentioned the other day that I never paint my nails anymore. I know part of it is because I’ve gotten lazy, and the other part is because I feel like nail polish is now an internet trend and I can’t keep up. Not only do I not have the interest in painting my nails on a regular basis, but it’s also outside of my budget to spent 4+ per bottle of nail polish. I know, I’m a cheapskate.
Recently I did pick up a few nice colors from the Sinful Colors line, so I figured I’d experiment with them today. I realize I didn’t do a perfect job, but between cleaning my house and getting ready to coach my son’s soccer practice (3 and 4 year olds, lol) I think I did pretty well.

Sinful Colors ‘Mint Apple’ with two coats of Sinful Colors ‘Frenzy’.
Today I had another appointment with my perinatal doctor. I see an O.B. but the perinatalogist is basically a high risk obstetrician who follows up with my regular doctor, weighs the baby via sonogram and keeps tabs on things that are related to my diabetes in pregnancy. The only downside? He gives me terrible ultrasound pictures! It’s always the creepy alien-face shot and a shot of the boy parts, which he gave me three weeks ago. *shrugs*
As of today, at 22weeks 4 days, he is measuring at 1lb 3oz. In the next week he will be considered “viable” and I will start seeing my regular O.B. for sonograms about once a week. How exciting! I feel him kick throughout the day but it’s all in my pelvic region, and now I know why.. he’s sitting upright with his little legs kicking at my bladder and girly parts, woo! I’ve still got a ways to go, but I just can’t wait to meet the little guy.
